There’s a mystical pull to the road, and for Louisiana songwriter Andrew Duhon, it’s both the literal highway and a path to emotional connection—sharing stories across cultures, from Texas dive bars to Washington art towns. His new album The Parish Record captures this journey, rooted in returning home to New Orleans and all its beauty, imperfection, and soul. Recorded at Dockside Studios in Cajun country with longtime collaborators, the album blends deep storytelling with bluesy rock, tender ballads, and raw moments—like “Another House,” a heartbreaking tribute to his mother’s dementia, and “Bayou La Batre,” a forgotten gem dusted off from an Alabama thrift bin.
With biting social reflections like “Waco Kool Aid” and nostalgic love songs like “Almost Forever,” Duhon’s songs evoke both place and perspective. Whether backed by his trusted band or picking alone in the quiet of morning, his voice feels like home—honest, rich, and unmistakably Southern. The Parish Record is both a love letter and a weathered road map, carrying the weight and wonder of a life lived fully in song.
