LIVESTREAM: The Divine Hand Ensemble

Described as “hypnotic, breathtaking, and mesmerizing, an amalgamation of magic, science, and music,” the The Divine Hand Ensemble is the world’s only theremin-fronted band. Over the past 15 years they’ve performed internationally for diverse audiences as well as dignitaries such as Pope Francis, the Dalai Lama, President of the UN, film directors M.Night Shyamalan and David Lynch, the DEA, and the Royal Family of Serbia.

On July 26 the ensemble will be unveiling Viva Astor! 7 Tangos by Piazzolla. The new music pays tribute to the work of Argentinian composer and instrumentalist Astor Piazzolla, who revolutionized the traditional tango by incorporating elements of jazz and classical music. Performing this music with the inclusion of a theremin adds a new twist, making the music sound both nostalgic and futuristic at the same time.

Led by concert thereminist Mano Divina Giannone, the Divine Hand Ensemble defies categorization. Mano Divina bends electricity with his hands to release angelic voices from his fingertips while being backed by an exquisite string quartet, two harps, vibraphone, and accordion. The ensemble specializes in classical compositions, opera arias, and popular favorites. Their debut album, Aria 51, released in 2022 is a sci-fi musical journey - the new sound of classical music that pushes the boundaries of the crossover genre. They cover songs from Bowie, Zappa and Queen, as well as Andrew Lloyd-Webber, Edith Piaf and Rimsky-Korsakov.
