Whatever you do, don’t call The Kody Norris Show “retro.”
While their rhinestone suits and fringed collars evoke classic country charm, this SPBGMA Entertainers of the Year quartet is charging full speed ahead. Led by frontman Kody Norris, with Josiah Tyree, Mary Rachel Nalley-Norris, and Charlie Lowman, the band blends nostalgic flair with dynamic instrumentation and sharp, witty lyrics—especially on their latest album, Highfalutin Hillbilly.
Kody’s musical roots trace back to Mountain City, Tennessee, where he soaked up The Stanley Brothers in his uncle’s El Camino and fell in love with bluegrass harmonies in his Baptist church. He picked up the mandolin at nine and never looked back. Mary Rachel swapped classical violin for fiddle in grade school and quickly became a festival circuit standout, performing with legends like Larry Sparks. She met Kody on stage, and their musical partnership blossomed. Josiah Tyree joined in 2017, bringing his old-time clawhammer banjo style, and Charlie Lowman rounded out the group with infectious energy.
Their 2017 album When I Get the Money Made won Bluegrass Album of the Year, followed by All Suited Up, which debuted at #7 on Billboard. With over 100 shows annually, appearances on RFD-TV, and a growing global fanbase, The Kody Norris Show is redefining tradition with rhinestones, heart, and high-octane bluegrass. They ain’t retro. They have something different. They have something uniquely theirs. They have something that makes them stand out.
And their fans can’t get enough!
