Twenty years on the road is no small feat, yet The Steel Wheels continue to evolve. After two decades of making music everywhere from living rooms to festival stages, the band marks the milestone with their 9th studio album, The Steel Wheels. Following 2024’s Sideways, they sought a new creative setting—only to find it in their own backyard. At their Red Wing Roots festival, Trent Wagler reconnected with producer D. James Goodwin, who had just relocated to the Shenandoah Valley and was building a new studio, The Isokon. Soon the band—Wagler, Eric Brubaker, Jay Lapp, Kevin Garcia, and Jeremy Darrow—gathered there to record.
Goodwin fostered a fast, intuitive process: mornings spent on demos, afternoons tracking live in one room, laughter and emotion guiding the performances. The resulting album captures the band’s full range, balancing folk‑rock energy with the harmony‑rich acoustic sound of their early years. Wagler’s lyrics probe modern life and connection, from the screen‑saturated reflections of “Easy” to the emotional complexity of “Go Back” and the quiet clarity of “Keep On Dancing.” After 20 years, The Steel Wheels remain adventurous, grounded, and still pushing forward.

Born in Lancaster, PA and now based in Nashville, Maya de Vitry is a singer‑songwriter, producer, and multi‑instrumentalist whose music blurs the lines between folk, country, indie rock, and Americana, inviting listeners into a space of openness and connection. After launching her solo career in 2019 following her time with The Stray Birds, she has released four independent records, toured across North America and Europe, supported artists like The Wood Brothers and Aoife O’Donovan, and contributed her writing, instrumental work, and production to a wide circle of collaborators. Her latest album, The Only Moment, reflects a powerful sense of reinvention, a spirit that carries into her live shows—spaces of spontaneity, peace, and freedom where her goal is simple: to help audiences feel a little more free.
