The roots of the early folk-rock scene can still be detected in 2012 with The Whiskeyhickon Boys... a relatively obscure sound creatively built for today's hybrid generation. These ex-folkies, who nightly pick up a combo of acoustic and electric instruments produce an improvised Blues/ Skiffle interpretation of the traditional Folk, Blues, Jazz and Roots influences. The WhiskeyHickon Boys have re-introduced their audience to that ringing, circular guitar riff sound that's become the center piece of their musical trademark, what they call "Gangsta Folk."
